Blue Obsidian is the healed version of Glass Ghost. She is a former Homeworld nurse who served under Blue Diamond. She was corrupted by the Corrupting Light, and has spent thousands of years wondering around Earth aimlessly.

Appearance

Blue Obsidian has sky blue colored skin, and thick, frosted-white hair, that extends slightly past her back. She has thin lips, with a small nose, and black eyes. Blue Obsidian is about 5 and a half feet tall with a thin build, taller then most Amethysts and Rubies, but not as tall as most Pearls. Her outfit consist of off-white colored boots, grey leggings, a dark blue-green sash around her waist, a light green-blue vest, white sleeves, and white gloves. Her gem is located on the left side of her chest.

Personality

Blue Obsidian is a very calm, level-headed gem. She has tons of patience, and will try to be calm when addressing a serious situation. She can be very forgetful, as she forgets a lot of information from her past; this is because of her amnesia. She can come off as a bit of a pushover, as she is very lenient when it comes to most situations. While sometimes she can come off as cold, she is a truly kind gem who cares for her friends and those around her. She enjoys spending time on the beach, exploring, and being with her friends.

History

Blue Obsidian was made sometime during the rebellion. She was a gem who worked under Blue Diamond, and was a nurse during the rebellion on Earth. She would transfer supplies to wounded gems or other gems who were in need. One day, when Blue Obsidian was flying back to Homeworld, she was blinded by a bright light (the corruption light), that caused her plane to crash, and led to her to becoming corrupted.

Abilities

Blue Obsidian has standard Era-1 Gem abilities, including the ability to invoke a weapon, fuse with other gems, retreat to her gemstone, change shape, and strength, agility, speed, and skill beyond human capabilities. As Blue Obsidian just recently became uncorrupted and is still slightly suffering from amnesia, she does not remember most of her skills and abilities, as she did not fight very often even before she became corrupted.

Unique Abilities

  • Hyalokinesis: Blue Obsidian has the ability to shape and manipulate glass.

Fusions

Blue Obsidian has yet to fused with any gems. However, if she were to fuse with another gem, these would be the resulting fusions.

Gemology

Natural Blue Obsidian

Blue Obsidian in real life.

Gemstone Information
  • Obsidian was named after Obsius, a Roman who discovered a similar stone.
  • Obsidian forms when lava cools and whilst it is mineral-like, it is not considered to be a true mineral because its composition is too complex and it does not have a crystalline structure.
  • Obsidian has some similarities to quartz, due to its silicon dioxide content.
    • However, quartz is a harder material than obsidian, at 7 on the Mohs scale, whereas obsidian has a hardness of 5 to 5.5.
      • Additionally, obsidian has a lower density and refractive index than quartz. Also, obsidian is singly refractive whereas quartz is doubly refractive.
  • Obsidian is thought to be a powerful stone that can offer protection against negativity. It is sometimes called "the stone of truth" because it encourages the surfacing of secrets and hidden emotions.
  • Despite a lot of Blue Obsidian being man made, there is natural Blue Obsidian available. Its simply very rare. There have recently been finds in both Greece and the Atlas Mountains in Morocco.
